My fabulous swap partner is the lovely Alice Peterson of Alice Dreaming. She went deep in her personal collection and pulled together a generous collection of artisan beads and gemstones. I was so excited, because the soup she sent included work by artisans whose creations I had been wanting to work with. Here's what Alice sent me:
And here's what I made:
Here's the beadwoven piece for this swap -- I surrounded the gorgeous Twinstar lampwork with turquoise jasper, a spiral rope with the jasper, and the rest of the necklace including the dyed jade. I wish the photo captured the beautiful flashes of iridescence in the lampwork! |
The seed beads and pressed glass are from my stash, and I fabricated the sterling clasp.
And a matching pair of earrings:
And then with the beads that were in a more orange colorway:
I had some beads left, so I made a couple of pairs of earrings - first using these super-fun polka dot disks suspended on links like those in the necklace.
And then some mismatched earrings using more of the delicious Twinstar lampwork.
There are a couple of leftover beads that I didn't work into a completed piece, but I've got some ideas percolating for them.
Thank you Alice, for the fantastic beads! And thank you, Lori, for throwing the best darned beady party in the known universe!

Lovely as usual. You used your colors well, again as usual. See a pattern here? That is why you are in my RSS feed!
What was unusual was the metal work you just slipped in there with the clasp and links. Those elements were well executed and not what I usually see from you. Well done.
Wonderful work!!! I LOVE the "Wisdom" necklace with the lovely sari ribbons
Awesome creations! I love the black and blue ones too but the necklace with the ceramic bead and that gorgeous focal is just amazing!
Bobbie, I've only got time to post here before I leave for the day. I love everything you made. Each piece had me saying 'wow that's gorgeous'. Your designs are fabulous!
The chain you made is beautiful and I love that first beaded necklace.
I had a great time as your partner and it's been fun getting to know you!
The cool blues are so sophisticated paired with black in your bead woven piece. I love the lampwork you selected for the focal. The second necklace is all sorts of juicy fresh color that is stunning with copper. I've been coveting those Libby Leu drops for so long!
You were certainly gifted with some fantastic pieces, Bobbie. You put them together brilliantly, showcasing each so they lit up the others. Just love the wisdom necklace (that chain!) and earrings!
Ooh I've loved what you have done- they are gorgeous and very inspiring :)
You know how much I love your style, right? Those are some stunners, girl! Love, love, love the black/turquoise necklace and earrings! And those earrings on the figure eight links are luscious! You are da bomb!!!
Yes got to say that a Beading class would be fun.How addictive it is all? LOL Love your pieces.Love and hugs Tanya

Nice job on your bead soup...lovely creations!
Such uniique designs! I especially love the earrings.
YUMMY!! The black & turquoise pieces are wonderful!!! You chose well. The turquoise beads in the spiral look like bubbles. The lampworked focal also looks bubbly & fun.
Oooh! I love how you used your black and blue beadwork to frame the lampworked bead. It truly makes it stand out!
Turquoise jasper - yet again it proves that jasper is one of my favorite stones!
And I love how different your other pieces are! Your wire work is beautiful! Love your chain.

Bobbie, the first necklace is stunning!

What an amazing display of your wire and beading skills, Bobbie! And adding the fibre really echoed the colours in those artisan beads.

Very creative pieces -love what you did with your soup!
Lovely job!
What a great soup. The beadwork on that focal is awesome. And I love the colors and texture in the second necklace. That first pair of earrings is so cute, I especially like the way you hammered/cut the ends of the wire the beads were on in those earrings. Your last earrings were cute and very unusual also. Nice job.
Wow live the glass bead surrounded by the blue stones. The wisdom focal is so pretty...my kind of style.
Great designs. Love the colors and textures.
Great stuff. I'm impressed by your copper chain but I have to say my favorite is that first pair of earrings. Maybe because I'm now reading the 3rd of the Hunger Games book and they look somewhat Katniss to me:)
Fantastic!! I love the wisdom necklace!!!
And here I thought I was speechless after the first necklace. I haven't seen a weave like that with seed beads and gemmies. But the second is just a wonderful in an entirely different way.
Oh what a lovely collection of pieces. Love that copper necklace, just beautiful!

Love the Wisdom necklace! Beautiful work!
I'm sorry I'm so late in hopping over here, but I have made it at long last!! ;)
Your beadwork in that first piece makes me grin so big. It's really lovely. And, I love that you chose black so that the focal pops against it.
Your other necklace has so many fun and neat touches in it that I could spend some time just staring it down!
And your earrings. . .they are really a lot of fun.
You rocked this bead soup challenge. Awesomely!
Just love these pieces. Well done. ;-)
you made beautiful soup!
I love how you designed all these pieces. One can clearly see you have a great sense of design and color.
Great designs, loving the earrings!!
I love how many different looks you were able to create with your soup! My faves are those first pair of lampwork earrings—yummy! *Ü*
Gorgeous! I especially love the Wisdom necklace - the colours are just perfect. And the little personal touches you give to every piece - the copper chain, silver clasp in the bead woven piece, the links for the earrings - all make each piece just that little bit more individual and special.
What a great job you did using your soup ingredients! The black and bule neclace and earings are my favorite. Your bead work is stunning. Cheers!
Lori D.
